Question: Compare and contrast a Sony Walkman with an Apple iPod, and describe the differences in their physical construction, interface design, technology and delivery of sound. Quick sketches are helpful for this analytical process.

The Sony walkman paved the way for portable music. The Walkman uses cassettes while the iPod uses mp3. The Walkman is much larger. They both use headsets. They both have the same function; play music portably. The Walkman only allows for one cassette or what is available on that cassette for music. The iPod allows for a many different types of songs and genres. They both use different batteries; iPod is chargeable and Walkman is not. The iPod makes it possible not to carry many different cassettes. Also you can connect it to a computer. The iPod has a visual screen while the walkman does not. The both have options of playing and pausing. The buttons are easier to touch with the iPod whereas the Walkman needs more power to press. The cassette player is very rare to be seen in this day and time. Cassettes are bulky and have a lower quality of sound compared to an mp3. Less cassettes are being developed but rather mp3.
